Dr. Jun Shang KUANG is Professor in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Dr. Jun Shang KUANG did his doctorate at The University of Cambridge.His current research projects include:

Dr Li received his B.Eng. degree in Structural Engineering from Tong Ji University, Shanghai, and his Ph.D. from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Dr. Li has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of structural design, including courses on the behavior, design, and assessment of reinforced concrete structures. Dr. Li has research interests primarily in the areas of seismic performance of reinforced concrete building structures. Most recently, Dr Li is actively working in the areas of anti-terrorist design and evaluation for government and commercial facilities, and research & development blast testing for explosive effects on conventional reinforced concrete structures and buildings made from precast concrete.

Earthquake and Blast Resistant Design: Seismic and blast resistant design of reinforced concrete buildings and buildings incorporating precast concrete elements. Development blast testing for explosive effects on reinforced concrete structures.

Structural Concrete: Design and behavior of reinforced and precast concrete structures, reinforcement detailing and cyclic strut-and-tie models.

Dr. Benmokrane is Professor of Civil Engineering at University of Sherbrooke, Canada.

Professor Benmokrane has published 444 scientific papers published over the past 20 years, including 182 peer-reviewed journal articles and 262 peer-review articles, 27 book chapters, and more than 180 reports. with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and university collaborators. Dr. Zongjin LI is Chair Professor, Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering at University of Macau, China. Dr. Zongjin LI did his doctorate at Northwestern University.His current research projects include:

Professor TAN KIANG HWEE is a faculty member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since July 1981. He obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1985.

Professor Tan specialises in the area of structural concrete and composites and has taught courses in reinforced and prestressed concrete design at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has carried out extensive research on concrete beams with transverse openings, external prestressing, and fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement and systems. He has published more than 280 refereed technical papers, a book entitled "Beams with Openings: Analysis & Design" (CRC Press LLC, USA, 1999), and edited the proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on FRP Reinforcement for Concrete Structures (World Scientific, 2003).

Professor Tan is also active in professional committees including the ACI Committee 440 on FRP Reinforcement. He was Vice-Chairman of the International Committee on Concrete Model Code for Asia. Besides playing a major role in local standardization works, he has also been a consultant in structural engineering to several agencies in Singapore and the region. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), and the Japan Concrete Institute. He is also a registered professional engineer in Singapore.

Francis T.K. Au obtained his B Sc(Eng) degree with first class honours, M Sc(Eng) degree with distinction and Ph.D. degree from The University of Hong Kong. He joined Maunsell Consultants Asia as an engineer upon graduation with his first degree, where he was involved in new town projects, highway projects as well as marine engineering projects. He returned to the University of Hong Kong in 1988 after having 7 years of practical experience in the industry. He is engaged in research in bridge engineering and concrete structures. He has been involved in various projects, including the structural health monitoring system of the Lantau Fixed Crossing, vibration tests of Ting Kau Bridge, road surface failure on bridges, development of bridge design software and shrinkage problems of large podium structures. He was the recipient of HKIE Transactions Prize 2002 (Civil), Best Teacher Award 2003-04, Faculty of Engineering, HKU, OVM Paper Award for Prestressing 2009 (Class 1) of China Civil Engineering Society and OVM Paper Award for Prestressing 2012 (Class 2) of China Civil Engineering Society.

Dr. Vinh Dao is currently lecturer at University of Queensland in Department of civil engineering.Vinh's research interests are in the broad areas of structural engineering and fundamental behaviour of concrete/structures.The focus of Vinh's research has been on connecting materials behaviour to structural response of concrete in order to address major issues facing construction industry; with current emphasis on performance of concrete at early ages and at elevated temperatures.
Currently, Vinh is the Chairman of the Editorial Committee for Concrete in Australia Journal and an elected National Councillor of the Concrete Institute of Australia. Vinh has also been a reviewer for ARC and several leading national and international journals and was the Technical Chair for the 26th Biennial Concrete Institute of Australia’s Conference in 2013. In 2012, he was invited to present a National Seminar Series on “Early-age cracking in concrete structures” in capital cities around Australia.
Vinh has been lecturing in the areas of structural mechanics, reinforced and prestressed concrete design, concrete technology, and advanced structural engineering. He has received a few nominations for the most effective lecturer from UQ-EAIT Dean’s commendation students and was profiled in Learning@UQ-2012, a major UQ annual publication, for having contributed to high quality of the student experience at UQ. Dr. In-Seok YOON is Professor in Department of Construction Information Engineering, Induk University. Dr. In-Seok Yoon obtained his Ph.D from University of Seoul in the year 2003. Later on he worked as Postdoc Scientist at TU Delft, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geoscience.

Maruyama, Kyuichi is now a Professor Emeritus at Nagaoka University of Technology. His specialty is concrete engineering. The seismic design of concrete structures is his major field. He has been one of the most active members in the professional affiliation, such as Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE, more than 35,000 enrollment), Japan Concrete Institute (JCI, about 8,000 enrollment). In particular, from 2010 to 2012 he served as a member of the executive directors of JSCE and has greatly contributed to the examination and recovery works concerning with the damage due to 2011 East Japan Earthquake.

From 2003 to 2007 he served as the chairperson of concrete committee of JSCE and contributed to solve many critical issues in the field. One of the big issues he involved was cracking of a newly constructed PRC bridge in 2005. He set up a special committee in JSCE and investigated the cause of so many cracks happened in concrete. It was firstly found that concrete could get shrunk at more than 0.001 with certain type of aggregates. The fact was immediately introduced in both JSCE and AIJ code provisions.

In JCI he served as a vice president from 2011 to 2013. In his career he served as an executive director twice, from 2000 to 2002 and from 2005 to 2007. In the first period he led research activities of JCI as a chairperson of the committee of research activities. His contribution has become wide to the international affairs of JCI, and served as a chairperson of the committee of international affairs in the second period of executive director. In 2013 he has set up a new committee to promote JCI-ACI collaboration and organized the first ACI-JCI joint seminar in Hawaii in July, 2014. He is now JCI president for two year term since June 2016

His leadership in JSCE and JCI resulted in publication of guidelines for design and construction of new materials, such as “Technical Report on Continuous Fiber Reinforced Concrete, JCI in 1998” and “Recommendations for Upgrading of Concrete Structures with Use of Continuous Fiber Sheets, JSCE in 2002.” Information from these publications has contributed to ISO provisions of FRP.

His professional activities have been acknowledged in the governmental and regional offices. He has been chairing the committee on repair and rehabilitation of concrete bridges damaged by salt attack set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. His contribution is not only to make up the guidelines but also to examine actual structures and to propose effective counter measures.

His working area is not limited to his professional field. He has been a professor at Nagaoka University of Technology for more than 35 years, and served as the executive director and vice president of university in 2003-2009. Based on his such background, he has contributed to the government, such as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as well as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Dr. Liashkevich is Director General of “Institute BelNIIS” Republican Unitary Research Enterprise for Construction in Minsk, Belarus.
Dr. Aleh Liashkevich obtained his Ph.D from Polotsk State University (Belarus) in the year 2003. Later on he worked in Polotsk State University as Research Associate, Senior Lecturer, in “Institute BelNIIS” RUE as Head of Laboratory, Chief Designer, Deputy Director General for Science.
Dr. Liashkevich also holds the following administrative and managerial activities in the field of R&D:
• Member of the Belarus National Standardisation Technical Committee in Architecture and Construction “Concrete and reinforced concrete structures, concretes and solutions”;
• Member of the Construction State Expert Board of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus.

Dr. Liashkevich reserach interests include:

• technical regulations in the construction of high-rise buildings;
• the quality of the reinforcement and its products;
• automatisation of the design process and calculation of buildings and constructions;
• new kinds of metal structures;
• reinforced concrete structures according to Eurocodes;
• post-tensioned slabs.

Sameer A. Hamoush obtained his Ph.D. degree from North Carolina State University. Dr. Hamoush is Department Chair in Civil, Architectural, Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Department, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, NC, Greensboro. Dr. Hamoush led the department through a successful ABET visit to three programs, Architectural, Civil and Biological Engineering.
