Reinforced concrete (RC) could be stuff within which concrete's comparatively low strength and malleability are countered by the addition of reinforcement having higher strength or malleability. The reinforcement is typically embedded passively within the concrete before the concrete sets. Reinforcing schemes are typically planned to resist tensile stresses particularly regions of the concrete which may cause undesirable cracking and/or structural failure. New concrete will contain varied reinforcing materials manufactured from steel, polymers or alternate stuff in conjunction with rebar or not. Concrete might also be for good stressed (in tension), therefore on improve the behaviour of the ultimate structure underneath operating masses within the u.  s., the foremost common ways of doing this are referred to as pre-tensioning and post-tensioning.
